Description
Malcolm Morley 18KT limited edition Hot Air Balloon enameled with 17 round diamonds pave set in the basket – this piece is one of only 1 made to date. It is based on the hot air balloon that appears in Malcolm’s “Mariner” from 1998 that is hanging in the Tate Museum in London England. It is solidly crafted weighing in at 30 grams. 2 inches long by 1 3/8 inches wide with the enameled colors to match the “mariner” painting. This piece was never numbered as it was to be one of one. Note the piece is heavy so it is meant to be worn on a jacket lapel or scarf as it needs support.
When Malcolm was alive he collaborated with master jeweler Pietro Romano in Bellport and created a line of jewelry that included cufflinks inspired by Malcolm’s bi-plane artistic creations.  An artist’s palette modeled after the palette used by Malcolm was also created in 18KT gold using colored diamonds. A pendant with matching earrings were crafted. In addition paintbrush earrings and pendant were also created based on Malcolm’s actual paintbrushes used.
While several of each item have been sold over the years we have a few pieces remaining and any additional pieces would have to be made to order. Only the items you see on our website are authorized to be made by the estate. Each is hallmarked with Pietro and MM as seen in the photos and each piece is numbered and limited to an edition of either 25 or 77 as per Malcolm’s instructions per item.
